Job Title:  C++ Developer

Photon Design is a small software develops Physics-based design and simulation tools for photonics. It's products are used throughout the World's industrial and academic photonics research labs. Your role will be developing the archetecture and user interface of these products in cooperation with other developers working on the simulation engines. The exciting role is a highly complex and challenging one, devising novel software mechanisms for implementing innovative features, designing user interfaces that are not just another interface but are aimed to be market leading in useablity and efficiency.

A talented applicant will gain a high amount of responsibility for development planning and design and will be able to make a major contribution to the success of a small company.

Exceptionally, we may relax the requirement rules below for a slightly more junior person who can otherwise demonstrate exceptional C++ programming talent. However this is not a role for mediocre programmers - as a small company, we will rely on the successful applicant making a full contribution to the company.

Requirements 

  • a minimum of 2 years full time C++ programming, including user interface experience. (4 years doing 5% C++ work does not count!).

  • a 2.1 Honours degree or better

  • eligibility to work in the UK without a Work Permit application

In addition one or more of the following qualifications will help you:

  • An excellent degree in Computing, Physics, Mathematics or Engineering Science

  • Proven user-interface design experience

  • Proven manual-writing skills

  • Experience in managing/developing large software projects (>2MB source code)

  • Experience in wxWidgets

Salary

Expected £25-£40K depending on experience and talent
